We're looking for a Staff Product Designer to help us push the boundaries of what's possible in a creative collaboration experience. In this role, you’ll help define the experience across our product, partnering with product management, research, and engineering to make sure we continue to innovate and hold the bar high in our product experiences.
This is a role for a creative individual with strong interaction design skills, excellent aesthetic judgment, and an ability to systematically work through complexity. You’ll define the Frame.io experience through strong design process – using wireframes, prototypes, polished UI, and more to tell a story through your work. Your work will inspire delight every time a customer uses Frame.io.
What you’ll do
- Own end-to-end design for strategic, high-impact initiatives. You'll navigate ambiguity, define design strategy through rapid prototyping and validation, and execute with exceptional craft—from early concepts through implementation and post-launch iteration.
- Set the standard for design excellence. Champion exceptional craft across visual design, interaction design, and product thinking. Your work will serve as a benchmark for the team and ensure every experience reflects Frame.io's commitment to fluidity, elegance, and detail.
- Prototype, prototype, prototype. Our team leans heavily on prototyping to explore, communicate, iterate and validate. You’ll use the latest tools like Cursor, Figma, and more to create compelling prototypes that validate designs through experiences that can be felt and used.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to shape product direction. Partner with product and engineering to identify opportunities, define compelling visions, facilitate alignment on complex problems, and influence decisions through exceptional design work.
- Stay ahead of creative technology trends. Immerse yourself in emerging tools, generative AI, and new creative workflows. Identify opportunities for Frame.io and incorporate cutting-edge patterns to keep us at the forefront of our category.
- Mentor designers across the organization. Provide thoughtful feedback in design critiques, model best practices through your work, and help others grow their craft and product thinking.
What you need to succeed
- 8+ years of product design experience with a proven track record shipping high-quality digital products at companies known for design excellence.
- Exceptional craft in visual design, interaction design, and prototyping. You create high-fidelity prototypes with the latest tools and have impeccable aesthetic judgment with obsessive attention to detail. Your work sets the bar and inspires others to push further.
- Strategic product thinking with strong systems design skills. You navigate ambiguity, can understand complex workflows, and design for holistic experiences beyond individual features. You balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints while ensuring your work is grounded in real customer insights.
- Outstanding communication and storytelling. You articulate design thinking clearly, build compelling narratives, and influence stakeholders at all levels with confidence.
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships with product managers, engineers, researchers, and designers. You create alignment through collaboration and have working knowledge of technical constraints.
- Experience mentoring designers and elevating others' craft. You provide thoughtful feedback, model best practices, and lead through example and influence.
- Genuine curiosity about emerging creative tools and technologies. You stay current with innovations in generative AI and creative production tools, and understand how technology is reshaping creative work.
- A portfolio that itself demonstrates exceptional craft and attention to detail. Both the work shown and how you present it should showcase mastery—we look for elegant problem-solving, high-quality execution, and portfolios that reflect the same level of care and polish you bring to product work.
