Adobe Design is looking for a Sr Experience Design Manager to join the Digital Video & Audio (DVA) team in San Francisco, California or Seattle, Washington. Our design team is rapidly growing and we are seeking a passionate design manager to help lead the team, provide strategic viewpoints, give creative direction, and drive concepts forward. This role tightly partners with our DVA product team, and you will be a critical force for how the product evolves, looks, and feels.

The Challenge

The incredible growth of audio, video & motion graphic content on web, television, and films has increased the need for tools that make it easier, faster, and more intuitive for creators to express themselves. This team is responsible for the design of Adobe’s powerful Creative Cloud video and audio apps such as Premiere Rush, Character Animator and the groundbreaking machine learning Sensei features across Premiere Pro and After Effects.

What you’ll be working on

In this role you will:

  • Connect people, ideas, and processes to achieve collaborative problem solving and integrated solutions.
  • Advocate for the design team and represent their work and interests to product management and other partner organizations.
  • Critique and be critiqued. We value a positive personality who can give and take healthy feedback, encourage and develop the team’s ideas, and generally leave ego out of it.
  • Foster an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration, experimentation, transparency, and teamwork.
  • Partner with product & engineering to champion design and the user’s voice throughout the product development process.
  • Resource and guide design development and production from planning all the way through delivery and implementation.
  • Lead through example by maintaining a high bar for quality and user-centric experiences. You are not afraid to get your hands dirty when it’s required.
  • Motivate, rally, and coach a team of inspired, extraordinary designers.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Leadership experience managing a team of visual, UX, and/or product designers.
  • Minimum 5+ years working in a design environment.
  • College degree, preferably in design with an emphasis on graphic design, HCI, or related design field.
  • A real passion for design, combined with a desire to make an impact through strategically developing a team of designers.
  • Strong operational skills with the ability to drive initiatives and consensus across organizations with varying priorities.
  • A user-centered approach to crafting products for people.
  • Intimate knowledge of modern, software design practices, tools, and processes with experience working in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to develop, lead, and inspire a multidisciplinary design team, encompassing visual design, UX, and prototyping.
  • Ability to resolve differences through discussion and coaching.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
