Adobe Design, our nearly 400-person product design group, is looking for a dedicated Lead Designer to help us invent the next generation of professional creative software.

What you’ll be working on

As an experienced designer and leader, you’ll lead design from the ground up as we develop a brand-new experience for creative professionals across the globe. You’ll be working to support some of the world’s best illustrators, animators, fine artists, brand designers, and other creative souls.

Your enthusiasm for ambiguity and ability to lead early strategy through concrete execution is key.You’ll convey design vision and strategy through compelling stories — via sketches, storyboards, hi-fidelity mockups, and/or prototypes — and lead, coach, and collaborate with other designers on the team as they work with you to deliver on this vision.

You’ll support ongoing, world-wide qualitative research in close partnership with the Adobe Design Research team, and your empathy-first design strategies will span creative fields, third-party integrations, and cross-team collaborations. You’ll pair that research with proactive investigations into ideas and technical opportunities across and beyond Adobe to help bring the best of technology and innovative design to life.

A close collaboration with leadership, design, product management, and engineering partners will help you draft initial concepts and establish foundational frameworks and patterns that scale across devices, surfaces, and contexts. There are many complex design problems to lend your thoughtfulness and careful eye to as you deliver practical and intuitive design solutions. And as with any large and worthy endeavor, you’ll need to be able to effectively deliver, receive, and respond to feedback from colleagues in an iterative fashion.

Your engaging storytelling skills will come in handy as you regularly present compelling design vision and strategy to teams across Adobe and to executive partners. In a nutshell, you’ll drive design strategy, galvanize excitement and motivation, and craft the design concepts needed to move us forward.

What you’ll bring to the team


  • 7+ years of experience and/or training in design or a related field
  • Passion for art, creativity, and empowering people to create
  • Deep empathy for, and curiosity around the work of, creative professionals
  • Excellent design craft and the ability to blend that with strong business acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication and storytelling skills
  • Strong sense of design process, and ability to work quickly and nimbly
  • A highly collaborative nature and proven ability to lead design strategy and execution
  • A history of leading design for and launching complex, yet intuitive products
  • A thorough understanding of design considerations for web applications


  • Prior experience crafting products for designers, artists, and other creatives
  • Prior experience crafting design strategy for platform experiences and design systems
  • Deep knowledge around and passion for accessible and inclusive design
  • Experience designing for AI/ML-driven products
  • First-hand experience in a creative field other than software design (illustration, video editing, 3D-rendering, visual effects, publishing, etc.)
