The Opportunity

The Digital Video & Audio (DVA) team at Adobe is seeking an Experience Designer to rethink audio workflows for a new generation of creative pros! Our mission is to bring the power of our best-in-class tools, like Premiere Pro and After Effects, to the everyday creator. This role will be crucial in making that happen. That could be you!

The ideal candidate will take great pleasure in all these activities: intimately understanding the hows and whys of the creative’s work; whiteboarding with engineers to understand the underlying tech; and iterating on user experience designs until you make the user jump with joy.

What you’ll be working on

  • Design audio tools and workflows that elegantly transition from the simple to powerful.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to strategize on how best to deliver high-impact, innovative features in the overall product roadmap.
  • Evangelize and communicate designs through sketches, storyboards, hi-fidelity mockups, prototypes, or animations.
  • Engage with Engineering to understand the feasibility of designs, proposing smart alternatives along the way and crafting detailed design specifications from which they’ll build.

What you need to succeed

Must-Haves:

  • A portfolio that showcases visual and interaction design work and a user-centered design process
  • Ability to share design rationale persuasively and concisely to all functions of the organization, including executives
  • Ability to prototype ideas to get feedback
  • Experience conducting user research – from contextual inquiry to usability studies – presenting study results, and acting on insights
  • Thrive in a culture of critiques, collaborative design, and the camaraderie of the tight-knit DVA design team
  • 5+ years in related field
  • Experience building and shipping software
  • BA/BFA degree, or equivalent work experience, with an emphasis on human computer interaction, visual design, interaction design, or related field

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience designing for creative professionals in the productivity space
  • Experience as a video/sound editor or motion designer, either professionally, through school, or as a hobbyist

How to Apply

To be considered for this role, you must submit a resume and portfolio, ideally one that shows work in a deep, technical domain. Role is located in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York.
