The opportunity

The Adobe Design team is seeking a Design Intern to join the Brand team here in San Francisco, California. Every creative person in the world experiences Adobe’s products every day. This is your opportunity to help define the look and experience of those products!

We are a small, focused team and are responsible for all the product brand marks, the visual branding hierarchy, workflow icons, splash screens, visual components to UX frameworks, and more. We design primarily for screens and printed pieces, but also at larger environmental scales like walls and installations. We lead all aspects of a visually-integrated brand system of over hundred different products across half a dozen different customer segments, and have a unique view and placement within the company.

We are seeking a visual design intern with an experience design eye. One who can look across marketing identities and the brand architecture system, identify needs and offer solutions. The project will likely have a broad set of touch points, including marketing identity and branding, research and collaboration with internal partners, in-product design concepting, and more. There may also be some other logo, icon, or UI design projects depending on time and interests. Along the way you’ll get a primer on how we work and you’ll see first hand what it takes for your concepts to come to life at a big company.

Adobe Design is Adobe’s in-house team that works directly with executives, product managers and engineering leadership to bring great products to life. We are co-located and work together in person every day to make the best products possible.

What you’ll do

  • Identify user needs and build consensus around those needs
  • Quickly visualize and prototype ideas to communicate concepts
  • Construct beautiful, functional designs that work in concert with the product brand system
  • Participate in peer design critiques to give and receive critique
  • Work closely with Brand team members on one-off brand projects (logos &/or other projects)

What you need to succeed

  • Actively pursuing a degree in visual design
  • A strong visual design portfolio demonstrating a firm grasp of basic design principles
  • A high degree of proficiency with our tools including XD, Illustrator, and Photoshop. AfterEffects and motion and/or web skills a plus
  • Experience with both screen work is strongly desired with motion, illustration, and prototyping, or other skills a bonus
  • Hard-working, highly motivated with a focus on the details
  • Able to communicate and sell your ideas in written or spoken form and to present with sketches, a short presentation, mock-ups or other appropriate medium
  • Able to receive (and deliver) constructive and often very direct design feedback in a team critique setting
  • A positive attitude and a desire to learn from those around you A strong interest in branding
